Counselling

Behind the wheel counselling:

We are working closely with Grant Johnson, a member of the Counsellors and Psychotherapists of Australia (CAPA)
If you:

  • feel ill at ease or stressed whilst driving.
  • suffer from anxiety that sometimes inhibits your ability to drive.
  • are having trouble getting back behind the wheel following an accident or other traumatic incident.
  • are tired of giving yourself a hard time because you think you can’t do what a lot of other people can apparently do easily.

Well, relax. You are not alone.

Stress, anxiety or trauma are experienced by many people in doing what they feel should be a normal activity. And giving yourself a hard time only makes it worse.

We can support you in your efforts to gain, or regain, your ability to drive.

Alternatively, if you feel that you can’t once again get behind the wheel, targeted counseling,
Visualization and auto-suggestion will help.

Feel free to discuss with us your specific needs and what we might do together to help you achieve your goal of greater confidence behind the wheel.

Testimonials

“When I finally decided, at 43 years of age, to attempt to get my driver’s licence I was extremely anxious. I had previously had lessons and three failed driving tests at 17 and completely lost my nerve. Belgica understood this and gradually coaxed me along as I slowly gained confidence. Within a couple of months I was cruising along in the centre lane of the Harbour Bridge! Belgica constantly encouraged me to expand my horizons – and had me driving to places I’d never even been to before. So, aside from learning to drive I actually saw more of Sydney than I’d previously ever visited! We had some rocky moments due to my nerves but Belgica knew when to push me and when to back off. We chatted, talked, shed a few tears, laughed and I learnt to drive. Along the way there were plenty of tips and suggestions to help not just with regular driving but also all those tricky situations like car parks, reverse parking and busy expressways. Lessons were not just about passing the driving test but about being a safe and confident driver. Six months after my first lesson I went for my driving test – and passed first go!!! I couldn’t describe the huge relief and the gratitude I feel for Belgica for making it possible. She shepherded me through the process and equipped me to be a good driver. I have no hesitation in recommending Belgica to anyone looking for a friendly and thorough driving instructor”
